Up in the Air

Man really been skimping on entries... Not really cos it's been quiet. Quite the opposite. It's been a sorta busy nerve racking past few weeks. Nerve racking cos everything proceeded so slowly.

Well here is where I'm at. For a start I've handed my notice in at work. My last day being the 10th. Strangely the people I thought would kick up a load of fuss, never did... Glad to see me go I guess. The stand in hanger manager did however ask why I was leaving. Answer I gave was that I was getting paid half the wage of all of my colleagues. Saying that after an 8 mth battle to get the same wage I am sick of getting told, "we're still looking into it". Frustratingly the stand in hanger manager then told me,
"Well if we adjust your pay to the same level of everyone else would you withdraw your letter?"

I almost yelled my reply back at him but composed myself n said, " If after 8mths of going thru proper channels to get my pay adjusted didn't work but the moment I hand my notice in, you guys hand it to me... do you really think I want to remain part of a company who behaves like that? I handed my notice in as a statement of fact not as a threat. I don't do threats."

With that he let matters be. Must add he was the only guy to even ask why, none of the other managers/ supervisors I'd handed my notice letter to even batted an eyelid. Hell one of them didn't even bother to open it! Yay! I am soooo valued. Thou creepily, the HR manager invited me into his office to question me my plans following my leaving. Just told him I was headed back to the UK to enjoy the summer time for a while n chill with the family. He kept pushing for my plans for work... I chose to evade the question. Especially with his PA in the corner writing down my every reply... alarm bells right there... suspiciously he even asked me if I wanted to move my leaving date forward I could n he would help... ummm don't think so U slimy bastard...

So far apart from my resignation, I also have my tickets back to the UK booked. Thou outstanding stuff still abounds. Still not got a confirmed job lined up. My bank account is still outstanding, still haven't arranged air freight for my stuff back home and still not yet sorted my work permit termination... Obviously the unconfirmed status of a job following here is kinda heavy on my mind... Hope the next few days bring good news...
